How to stay

Who can stay at the Windsor House location?

Families with a child (18 years of age or younger) receiving medical care for a serious illness or injury at Windsor Regional Hospital.

The social worker from your child’s hospital ward must submit an electronic referral form to Ronald McDonald House Windsor to request accommodation.

Due to high demand, we often operate with a waitlist, and a room cannot be guaranteed at the time of referral. We are only able to offer one bedroom per family, and may not be able to accommodate requests from families whose children are receiving non-life-threatening procedures, day surgeries, or follow-up visits.

Once we receive your referral, our Family Services team will contact you directly and will notify you as soon as a room becomes available for your family.

To protect the health of all our guests, anyone who is ill or has recently been exposed to a communicable illness cannot be admitted to Ronald McDonald House (this includes family members with a cold or the flu). This policy helps us minimize risk to children with weakened immune systems.

Please note: Due to the nature of our program, accommodations cannot be provided to individuals experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • New or persistent cough
  • Nasal congestion
  • Fever within the past 24 hours
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 48 hours

Further assessment by our Family Services Coordinator is
required if you or anyone in your household has been exposed to:

  • Measles
  • Mumps
  • Tuberculosis
